YOUTH FITNESS
Youth Weight Training
The YMCA will offer this 6 week course in which participants learn basic weight training principles, instructions on how to use the weight training machines and free weights, as well as a personal routine set up by a fitness instructor, beginning June 17th. The course will meet on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Upon completion of the course participants who are 13 years old are allowed to have full use of the upper level fitness center. Youth ages 13 to 16 are encouraged to participate. Cost is $19 for members and $28 for non members. Pre registration is required and is due June 13th. Registration begins May 10th for members and May13th for non members. Registration is limited to 12 participants.
Teen Sports Conditioning Class
Hey teens, are you interested in some preseason conditioning to prepare for fall sports? If so, the YMCA has a class for you. The YMCA will be offering a Teen Sports Conditioning class for youth 13 to 18 years old. The 5 week class will meet on Tuesday evenings beginning June 26th. The course, taught by a certified personal trainer will train participants in both cardiovascular and strength training fitness. Participants will receive an exercise plan based on their specific sport and goals. Registration is limited to 12 participants. Registration begins May 15th for members and May 18th for non members. Self Defense Class
The YMCA will be offering a 4 week self defense class beginning June 9th. The class will meet Monday evenings from 5:15 – 6:15 p.m. This self-defense class is for men and women, ages 13 and above, that want to learn a self-defense system that uses techniques rather than strength to subdue an attacker. Students will learn a variety of breakaways, strikes, pressure points, punch blocks, hand to hand situations, and take downs. The class will also discuss situations to stay away from as well as other safety precautions to take. Participation is limited to 12 participants. Registration begins May 8th for members and May 11th for non members. Cost is as follows:
