YMCAs are dedicated to providing high-quality, affordable child care. As the nation's largest provider of child care programs, YMCAs provide family-centered, values-based programs to nurture children's healthy development. Well-trained staff provide safe, affordable, high-quality care so you can have peace of mind while you work. Like all Y programs, child care is open to all, with financial assistance available. Staff members are partners with parents and other caregivers, working together to help kids grow up healthy, happy and strong.
YMCA After School Program
The YMCA will be offering an after school program for children in grades 1st through 6th again this year. However, a few changes are in place. The program will no longer be held at Brown County Elementary School. This year, the children will be bussed by the district to the YMCA each day. In addition, a new coordinator has been hired, Niki Doyle. Mrs. Doyle has previous experience with an after school program where her children attended school prior to moving to Brown County. “I am excited about the upcoming year and the advantages that the YMCA provides for the children,” states Doyle.
During the after school time, children are provided a snack to rejuvenate after their day of school. Then, children are provided quiet time to work on the days homework. Children will then participate in games, crafts and physical activities to finish the day. The program lasts until 5:30 each day. After school care is provided on both early dismissal days as well as days that school is not in session, with the exception of Christmas and Easter breaks.
The weekly fee for after school care is $17 for YMCA members and $30 for nonmembers. Financial assistance is available to both member and nonmember families who find this fee to be a hardship. Registration forms as well as financial assistance applications are available at the YMCA Welcome Desk. The program can accept up to 36 participants. The after school program is made possible with the assistance of the United Way of Brown County.
